As you come in from Chulia Street and turning into Carnarvon Street ( Lebuh Carnarvon) , there is an elderly couple manning a stall beside the corner of a coffee shop. This stall beside the coffee shop is selling Char Hor Fun, Ee Foo Mee, Hokkien Char & Fish Head Bee Hoon for almost about 25 years.
There is a signage showing the name of the Char Hor Fun stall as " CHEW KEE " and this stall, I must say still serve the original smoky flavour & the best Char Hor Fun in Penang.
There are many tables set up beside the stall on this busy road junction and a few steps further up is a stall selling fruit juice and drinks and with many tables set up beside it .At night along this busy Chulia Street , there are many hawkers stalls and it is usually full of people patronising these outlet. There is curry mee , wantan mee, koay teow thng, char koay teow and also another char hor fun stall alongside the small alley. During the day time, this place is with many stall set up selling hardwares.
The price of a normal small plate of Char Hor Fun is RM4.50 and with additional of fried Garoupa fish meat is RM10. If you love original & traditional type of Char Hor Fun with the smoky flavour and thick gravy soup sauce served with prawns, liver, meat and fresh fish slice , head to " CHEW KEE " stall. You will love it...yummie !!!
